You Me & Iowa featured on Buzzbands LA and Rock Insider

You Me & Iowa have been featured on indie rock taste-maker blog Rock Insider and on the veteran Los Angeles new music blog Buzzbands LA.

Kevin Bronson of Buzzbands LA writes:

You Me & Iowa has been elbowing its way through L.A.’s crowded field of indie-pop bands for about four years, and now the quintet — Andrew Carroll, Ryan Julio, Ryan Ross, Tony Benedetti and Tizoc Estrada — is hard at work on the follow-up to 2008’s “The Adventures of You Me & Iowa,” a mini-album of sparkling, polyrhythmic pop.” “With the weather as hot as it’s been,” bassist Ryan Julio says, “the song ‘Howling at Summer’ seems pretty appropriate.” Agreed.

You Me & Iowa to play Troubadour on Sept. 18th

Riding the acclaim of their recent album, The Adventures of You Me & Iowa, local Silver Lake outfit You Me & Iowa is poised to take the stage at the legendary Troubadour on September 18th, at 8pm, supporting the nationally touring Canadian rocker, Mandi Perkins. Since 2003, YMI have been regulars of the Silver Lake/Echo Park indie scene, showcasing at Spaceland, The Echo and The Silverlake Lounge. The band has been featured on Indie 103.1, Seattle's KEXP, numerous college radio stations, indie blogs, and two nationally televised music videos.

Taste-making blog, Delusions of Adequacy writes, "You Me & Iowa takes all of the best elements of rock, indie, and pop music and blends them into something wholly accessible, yet undeniably smart and rewarding... This just might be a near perfect pop/rock album, and one of the best albums I've heard this year."

Indie-rock critic Amplifier Magazine describes them as, "comfortably between The Beach Boys and Of Montreal...like an older, slightly more cynical Vampire Weekend."

Their wildly intense live show, packed with stage antics, and a rotating lineup of extra musicians keep fans coming back again and again.

"The Adventures Of" on iTunes

The Adventures of You Me & Iowa is now available on iTunes.

Though this is an album that you should really own in its physical form, because of the 10-page graphic novel liner notes— we understand that some people are done with CDs and like to have just digital mp3s.

So for those people, go and grab the album off of iTunes:

The Adventures Of You Me & Iowa - Released

The Adventures of You Me & Iowa is the second release from the California quintet You Me & Iowa. Recorded at Rollercoaster Recording in Burbank, CA, under the guidance of producer/engineer Dave Newton (The Little Ones, The Mighty Lemon Drops) and mixed by J. Robbins (The Dismemberment Plan, Jawbox, The Promise Ring), The Adventures of You Me & Iowa is a breath of fresh air—indie-pop-rock that twists the genre in a new and authentic musical direction. Complex arrangements combine with catchy melodies and an inspired rhythm section. Coupled with the comic book/graphic novel style booklet by established artist and video-game designer Chuck Wadey, the album brings the listener along for a sonic and visual adventure.
